Pippy's Pals Rescue "Find Your Starfish" Sweatshirt

Why “Find Your Starfish”? When we were overwhelmed by the never ending cycle of dogs on the euthanasia list, we remembered the adaptation of “The Star Thrower” by Loren C Eiseley which tells the story of a young woman gently placing starfish back into the ocean. A man asks her what she is doing and she replies that she doesn’t want any starfish to die to which the man says there are miles and miles of starfish, she can’t possibly make a difference. The young woman thinks about it, picks up a starfish and threw it into the sea and says “It made a difference for that one.”

It’s a gentle reminder to us that while the animal welfare problem may seem never ending, we do make a whole world of difference for those that we do save from the shelter or the streets.
